Leuchtturm Garten Bahn, making a start:

Brief background history, interested in model railways since 1965, indoor 00 loft layout, first house purchase in 1977, lack of space indoors resulted in operating 00 as a Garden Railway.

Moved from Analogue to DCC in 2006, enforced early retirement in Jan 2013 due to severe Arthritis and restricted movement in the hands and fingers meant using 00 was restrictive, hence a move to a G Scale Garden Railway.

Status quo until November 2019 when a new home was purchased, dismantling and packing up for a house move to the present home as of 1st April 2020.

From April 2020 due to covid lock downs, very difficult to achieve very much, spent time on garden clearance, moving an existing shed and purchased and installing a new shed for the the garden railway activities.

Work commenced in March 2021 on constructing the garden railway.

Stages 1,2, and 3 completed by the end of April 2021, first train ran on the 5th May 2021.

All of the previous garden railway equipment has been reused on the Leuchtturm Garten Bahn all the track, points, point motors are LGB, DCC equipment a mixture of Massoth and PIKO.

This time around, more specific and regimented in acquiring locomotives and rolling stock, the theme is based around the Wangerooge Island Railway……….

Timber construction at waist height, all treated sawn timber, plus an additional six or more coats of timber preservative, 2”x 1”, 2”x 2” for the framing, 6”x 1” for the top covered in roofing felt.
